Experience Ampass
The village was first documented back in 1145 as “Ambanes”, a name that originates from a Celtic expression meaning “between two streams”. Situated at an elevation of 651 metres above sea level, the village is located on the former salt route that led from Hall southwards to the Brenner pass.
Guests who visit Ampass today come to experience nature at its finest. The village, after all, is situated within the municipal area that includes the Taxerhofsee Nature Reserve, and the scenic Innsbrucker Almenweg hiking trail is also within easy reach. During the winter months, a ski bus transports guests free of charge from Ampass to the ski areas belonging to the Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck.
Its close proximity to the city makes it easy for visitors staying in Ampass to spend an evening in the cinema or casino, or to enjoy a spot of shopping in Innsbruck’s re-modelled Maria-Theresien-Strasse. They can also explore the magical Christmas market or take in one of the Promenade Concerts during the summer months.
