Summer Holidays in Ampass

In tune with the pulse of nature
The Taxerhofsee Nature Reserve is known by the locals as “Köglmoor”. The lake, with its reed beds and marshland, is a protected area and serves as a breeding habitat for rare bird species. One of the walking paths around Ampass was named after the Tyrolean freedom fighter Kaspar Sautner who was born in Ampass.

The Innsbrucker Almenweg trail that leads from the Kreither Alm mountain hut, past the Raitiser Alm and the Mutterer Alm to the Götzner Alm, also offers a scenically rewarding walk, as does the Speckbacherweg trail that leads past the village of Rinn, situated above Ampass, and, from there, on to the hamlet of St. Peter in Ellbögen. Several walking trails start right in the village centre in Ampass including one to the village of Rinn, and one to the idyllically situated Herzsee lake near Aldrans, which then continues on to the village of Sistrans.

During the winter months too, visitors can enjoy the area’s stunning natural surroundings along the many scenic winter walking trails in and around Ampass.
