Walking at the Foot of the Kalkkögel

Gently ascending woodland paths and tracks, then forests and finally true Alpine terrain. And, at almost every turn, the stunningly beautiful views of the majestic Nordkette mountain range, the Inn Valley and the craggy peaks of the Kalkkögel. Many of the walks around Birgitz are ideally suited to families, some are even pushchair friendly.

Easy to reach from Birgitz is the “Almenweg” walking trail that starts from the Birgitzer Alm mountain hut situated at an altitude of 1,808 metres. A short, steep detour (250 metres of elevation) up to the Birgitzköpflhaus is well worth the effort on account of the breathtaking panoramic views and the traditional, hearty food served on the sun-drenched terrace. The path from the Birgitzer Alm down to the Götzner Alm is a more family-friendly one, and it can be continued (although not with a pushchair) to the Alpengasthof Adelshof (1,315 metres) where a wildlife park and a children’s play area make for an enjoyable stop.

Our expert walking and hiking guides are available to show you a few insiders’ tips as part of our hiking schedule, a service that is free of charge (including bus transfers) for guests staying in Birgitz.
