About four weeks before Christmas, Innsbruck starts its Christmas Markets - the beginning for the festive season: stalls invite to look and maybe buy a present, have a drink of hot tea or the stronger "Glühwein" (hot spicy wine) or try some of the spicy or sweet Christmas food.

Christmas Market in the Old Town
Each year during Advent, a traditional  Christmas market takes place in the heart of the historic old town of Innsbruck, right in front of the Golden Roof and surrounded by beautifully preserved medieval facades. On a stroll through the market you will find stalls selling traditional food, drinks, souvenirs, Tyrolean handicrafts, and Christmas decorations. Meet new friends, warm up and refuel with some traditional delicacies such as Kiachln (doughnut speciality), Spatzln (small cheesy dumplings) and a mug of Glühwein (mulled wine).

Innsbruck’s main shopping street will once again dazzle visitors with lights, glass and crystal. New stalls, modern Christmas lighting designs and an exciting range of souvenirs supplement the traditional Christmas market offerings in the heart of the town. Christmas Market at Marktplatz
Marktplatz will once again become a venue for the Christmas market in Innsbruck this year and it remains a market for the whole family. The carousel, petting zoo and many other attractions will make your children’s eyes sparkle. The Christmas market also offers a range of beautiful gifts, as well as all the tasty regional specialities that one can expect to find at a Christmas market.

Hungerburg Christmas Market
The new Hungerburgbahn funicular railway line promises to make your journey to the Panorama Christmas Market in Innsbruck a scenic adventure. Once at the top, you will not only be guaranteed breathtaking views
of Innsbruck and its surroundings, but also plenty of culinary delights and a wide range of Christmas souvenirs. Those who wish to explore more of the Alps can hop aboard the newly installed panorama gondola and continue their ascent to Hafelekar Peak (2,256 m). The mountains have never been so close.
