Let’s get this right - the Festival of Dreams has always been fabulously funny. The motto of this year’s edition, however, promises a particularly sun-drenched event! Themed ‘Clownifornia’, the 22nd Innsbruck Festival of Dreams featuring street artists, clownery and high-spirited comedy, will return to its usual venue at Stadtsaal Innsbruck. The setting, however, will have changed considerably!

From 7 until 26 August 2012, numerous top comedy acts living it up at the ‘Hotel Clownifornia’ with a string of evening performances taking place at the reception desk, dining area and hotel rooms. The illustrious guest list includes such names as Peter Shub, Edouard Neumann and Jos Houben. Crafty ‘pickpocket’ Christian Lindemann and David Shiner - clown, writer and director - are both closely associated with Cirque du Soleil. Joel Jeske is famous for his uncanny knack of creating tons of fun with the simplest of things. Pierre Ètaix, a.k.a. ‘Clown Yoyo’, whose various appearances on the big screen have earned him several prestigious awards - including an Oscar –, captivates the audience with his musical skills, slapstick comedy and classic clownery. Other spectacular festival highlights include performances by Barry ‘Grandma’ Lubin, musical clown and mime artist ‘Elliot’, as well as Paolo Nani and Hilary Chaplain.

In addition to eighteen evening performances at the Stadtsaal Innsbruck, also young festival goers will be spoilt for choice as another sixteen comedy plays for children are scheduled to be staged at the Ursulinensäle events hall. And for those who want to take active part in the fun, the Festival of Dreams will be offering comedy workshops with Peter Shub, Barry Lubin, the Spymonkeys, Paolo Nani and Duo Juxart, which may well be the point of departure for budding clowns!
