The Innsbruck Festival of Dreams

Days of dreams and laughter
1 - 18 August 2013: Fun and fantasy at the Innsbruck Festival of Dreams

Peter Shub (Clown)

Also in its 23rd edition, the Innsbruck Festival of Dreams will present an entertaining programme packed with fabulous fun, amazing acrobatics and a firework of colours. In 2013, the festival is going to take place at the Innsbruck Congress Centre, a splendid venue where clowns and comedians will delight the audience with their funny business. In order to adapt the event’s overall concept to this new location, Berlin-based star comedian Karl-Heinz Helmschrot is assisting the Innsbruck ‘dream catchers’ as the forthcoming event’s artistic director. True to the festival motto ‘Berlin in Innsbruck’, the German capital of comedy is set to take centre stage. as Helmschrot presents five unique productions intended to create a seamless transition from the world of the circus to the comedy stage. The splendid Dogana hall at the Innsbruck Congress Centre will provide the fitting setting for a string of performances, including a veritable Visual Feast inspired by Modest Mussorgsky’s composition titled ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’. A stunning act by the name of Kult is will be setting a new benchmark in the field of comedy, while a Class Reunion promises fun-filled retrospection. With Berlinnsbruck, the audience at the Dogana can expect an entertaining tale of two cities. And with the performance by Dreamcatcher, a programme full of poetic charm, the festival will be brought to its close. Furthermore, Heloise and William – a top comedy act widely known for its breathtaking acrobatics at the Chinese Pole – is scheduled to put in a guest appearance.

Also this year, the the Innsbruck Festival of Dreams will be holding a variety of comedy workshops – together with a fabulous party for children. On 31 July 2013, the festival will kick off for the seventh time already with a hilariously funny Galachen event. Although this year the usual special programme for young festival goers had to be put on hold, a brand new concept featuring tailor-made comedy shows for kids is already underway. Starting in autumn of 2013, they’ll be able to join in the fun and laughter to the catchy tunes of children’s songwriters Ratz Fatz, and an exciting programme that will be on show in Innsbruck and further afield.
