Modern Architecture

In the past 15 years a remarkable arvhitectural scene has become established in the Tyrol.

Following a phase after 1960 when mass tourism was courted and a "pseudo-Alpine style" was indulged in it is all the more astounding that the Tyrol has now undergone a transformation manifested in architecture of quality.

Two major competitions got the discussion going regarding new buildinig in old urban areas: the 1985 tender for the enlargement of Innsbruck Town Hall and that in 1988 for a new building for the Faculty of Sozial & Economics Sciences (SoWi).
