Stubai Glacier
Boasting ski slopes that reach to elevations of over 3,000 metres, this is one of the most famous glacier ski areas in the Alps.
Testimony to its renown are countless awards and accolades including the prestigious “Tiroler Skigebietskristalle” (Tyrolean ski area crystal award) and, once again, the title of “Most Family-Friendly Ski Area in the Alps” for which the German automobile club, ADAC, tested 1,500 winter sport resorts for its 2010/11 ski guide. But Austria’s largest glacier ski area doesn’t only cater for sports enthusiasts during the winter months – boasting a snow guarantee from October right through to June, the skiing season here very often gets under way as early as mid-September. Guests staying in Innsbruck and its holiday villages can take advantage of the free ski bus in order to enjoy this unique glacier experience.
