Summer Holidays in Gries im Sellrain
Walking and hiking – an almost limitless choice
Juifenalm, Sonnbergalm, Lüsenalm – what a wonderful moment at the end of a hike when a mountain hut comes into sight with the promise of a well-earned rest, a refreshing drink and a hearty meal. Many Alpine huts also serve home-made produce including cheese, sausage and schnapps. Cheers!
The Juifenalm mountain hut serves excellent traditional dishes made using only organic ingredients and homemade products. In addition, it offers breathtaking panoramic views to the peaks of Zischgeles, Freihut and Sellrainer Sonnberg. The walk to the hut starts in the village of Gries itself. The ascent to the Juifenalm, either via the forest track or through the woods, is a gentle one (1 ½ hours). The hut is a popular starting point for summit hikes to the Windegg (2,577 m) or to the Roter Kogel (2,832 m).
Offering views of breathtaking proportions, the 15 kilometre-long Sellraintal high-altitude trail takes you across scenic mountain pastures at an elevation of around 2,000 metres. Starting at the Zirmbachalm, the hamlet of Haggen or the village of St. Sigmund, the path stretches all the way to Oberperfuss. You can also exit or join the trail in Gries im Sellrain.
