The marmot adventure playground
As happy as a marmot in mud
Eagle, ibex and chamois – the animals of the Alps feel at home here in the Sellraintal valley. Here in Gries im Sellrain another sprightly little mountain inhabitant has come up with something rather special – namely the Marmot Adventure Playground.
What does a marmot get up to all day? He runs about, nibbles some grass here, some wild herbs there. Always on the lookout, he lets out a whistle if danger approaches. He likes to lie in the sunshine – tummy up, nose to the wind – and, of course, he likes to sleep in his cosy den. In the Marmot Adventure Playground, kids of all ages can try their hand at copying this friendly little animal. Watched over by the carved, wooden “head marmot”, the spacious playground offers a “marmot cave” for kids to explore, a watchtower to climb up, a water-play area and a stream, a fun balancing section, an “eagle swing” and a flying fox for fearless high-fliers.
During the summer months there is a fun multi-sport court and a beach volleyball court, and in winter a rink for ice-skating and playing Alpine-style curling. And when the little marmots are tired after all that playing, they can lie back in a hammock in the marmot playroom, or recharge their batteries with an ice-cream, a slice of cake or some other tasty treat in the Marmota Café-Restaurant. Hours of fun and adventure!
