Climbing - Conquer new Heights

Right on the doorsteps of our town you will find beautiful climbing routes. Trained guests, guided by a local, certified mountain guide, will enjoy a tour along these routes.

The Innsbruck via ferrata offers a real challenge – with a total climbing time of 7 hours over fixed-rope sections of medium to hard difficulty and 700 metres of elevation gain in the ascent, this full-day tour is only recommended for experienced via ferrata users. The trail to the Pfeishütte mountain hut also leads over high-alpine terrain and, likewise, should only be tackled by those with a good level of stamina. A medium-difficulty hiking trail and one that offers breathtaking scenery is the Goetheweg trail which leads from the Hafelekar to the Mannlspitze and continues via the Arzler Scharte (col) to the Hungerburg.

Via ferratas in the area of Innsbruck and its holiday villages

Feel on top of the worldThe Kühtai via ferrata offers two alternative routes. Breathtaking panoramic views, a physical challenge and an unforgettable Alpine experience – all this and more can be enjoyed to the maximum while climbing the Kühtai panoramic via ferrata which leads up to the Pockkogel summit. The route begins just a 20-minute walk from the top station of the Drei-Seen-Bahn cable-car which starts from the village of Kühtai. The two different routes (one of medium-difficulty and the other challenging) lead  up over granite – which offers good grip - and footholds hewn into the rock, taking climbers over ledges, shelves and rungs. After approx. 1 ½ hours, less experienced climbers should descend via the Gaiskogelscharte (col) to the Drei-Seen-Hütte hut; more ambitious climbers can continue the ascent for another two hours conquering vertical walls, ridges and rock chimneys before being rewarded with an unparalleled panoramic view from the 2,807 metre-high Pockkogel summit all the way to the peaks of the Wildspitze and Zugspitze mountains. “A fantastic and demanding tour” is how this via ferrata route is rated by experts. The “1. Schischule Kühtai” offers organised via ferrata tours with professional mountain guides on request. The  Drei-Seen-Bahn cable-car runs daily from July until the end of September.

Further information on climbing can also be obtained from the Austrian Alpine Association and from the Alpinschule Innsbruck.
