Winter Holidays in Lans
An atmosphere of Olympic proportions
The village of Lans is situated at the foot of the Patscherkofel mountain, one of the venues of the men’s downhill races during the Winter Olympics and a popular local ski area for the inhabitants of Innsbruck. It’s easy to reach using the free ski bus, which also, incidentally, takes guests twice a week to the Stubai Glacier ski area.
The cross-country ski bus (likewise free of charge), makes it easy for visitors to explore many of the region’s cross-country trails. The nearby village of Rinn, for example, boasts snow-reliable tracks for both skaters and classic skiers. And the Stubaital and Leutasch valleys, with their unparalleled network of tracks, are also on the agenda.
But there are numerous other opportunities to enjoy the winter just minutes away from Lans. The Olympic bobsleigh and luge track in Igls, for example, offers visitors the chance to ride in a guest bobsleigh, while the surrounding mountain countryside lends itself ideally to the slow solitude of backcountry skiing. The region around Lans also boasts numerous toboggan tracks for those who fancy a winter walk up through the magical snow-covered forest followed by an exhilarating ride back down to the valley.
