From "hut to hut"
High above the village of Sistrans, the Sistranser Alm mountain hut is situated at an elevation of 1,608 metres. You can either make the whole ascent on foot, or you can take the Patscherkofelbahn cable-car up to higher ground and then follow a gentle trail via the Lanser Alm to the Sistranser Alm where you can rest and enjoy a hearty snack.
Named after the renowned Tyrolean freedom fighter, the Speckbacherweg walking trail, which also leads through Sistrans, connects the picturesque villages and hamlets on the sunny plateau above Innsbruck at the foot of the Patscherkofel mountain. The stunning views of the southern “Mittelgebirge” plateau into the Stubaital and Inntal valleys and North Tyrolean Limestone Alps are enough to take your breath away.
With little in the way of elevation changes, the trail stretches from Ellbögen to Tulfes, leading alternately through the forest or along its edge and over fields and meadows. Numerous benches and a few picnic tables offer stops to linger and rest along the way. There are also many side paths leading through the woods to the villages that lie along the route
