The Pilgrimage Church of St. Blasius

Enthroned high above the community hall to the south-west of the original village centre and visible from far away, the church dedicated to St. Blasius is, today, still the town’s main landmark. First documented back in 1286, the church was restored and enlarged in the 18th century and, in keeping with the times, it was given a Baroque appearance.

The extensive renovations that were carried out on both the exterior and interior of the church were completed in 1986 on the event of the church’s 700-year anniversary. The little church was a popular place of pilgrimage as far back as the 15th century – and it still is today.
