Guests are often heard singing the praise of Tyrolean cuisine after stopping at one of our guesthousesmountain huts or restaurants. You can enjoy local delicacies in the traditional guesthouses, hearty snacks and home-cooked food in the mountain huts or haute cuisine in one of the award-winning gourmet restaurants. Alternatively, visit one of the many Italian restaurants and taste just how close Innsbruck is to its southern neighbours with the delicious variety of antipasti, authentic pasta dishes, wood-fired pizzas and fish specialties. Or experience Innsbruck's cosmopolitan side in the numerous international restaurants from Asian and Mexican to vegetarian and vegan. Nightlife in Innsbruck

Bars, cafés, clubs and pubs - Innsbruck's nightlife leaves no wish unfulfilled! After dark the university city is transformed into a hotspot for revellers and party lovers. But it's not only students who enjoy an evening walk along the lively Maria-Theresien-Straße. After the sun has set many local inhabitants also like to stroll through the Old Town, its streets lined with inviting bars and cafés. Another cocktail perhaps before going to the dance club? Or a beer in the cosy pub just round the corner? Those who like to party right through the night should make their way to the bars under the viaduct arches - a particularly popular area with local party animals!

Bars in the Sky

Gaze over the rooftops of the city, look out over valleys and mountain peaks or enjoy stunning views of green alpine meadows. All with a drink in your hand. Our bars, restaurants and mountain huts with a view are probably the most beautiful places to enjoy a refreshing beer, a good glass of wine or a fruity cocktail.

Young and cool

Trendy cafes, cosy insider tips and cool locations. In this section, we share a few special places where you can hang out, chill or enjoy a night out.

Did you know?

Innsbruck locals rate Kaspressknödel cheese dumplings as their favourite food. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and preferably served in a steaming hot beef soup. This delicacy is made using Graukäse (Tyrolean grey cheese) and can also be served with salad or sauerkraut instead of soup.

Cycle & Savour

Enjoy a leisurely bike ride from one savour station to the next. Farms, direct sellers, guesthouses and berry growers: you can indulge in local delicacies at all of the different savour stations located along the Cycle and Savour trail, which are easily accessible by bike, e-bike or even car. The delicious offerings are available to try at the various providers or to take with you for a picnic later in the alpine countryside.

Picnics in Innsbruck

You don't always have to go to a restaurant. Why not just have a relaxing picnic in the park or by the River Inn instead? If you are stopping for lunch during a sightseeing tour or looking for a place to enjoy a short break and a snack, we recommend the park benches dotted throughout the city parks, for example in the Imperial Gardens. Or find a nice spot along the Inn with calming views of the river's green waters.

Please note: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted everywhere in Innsbruck. Information about the areas where alcohol consumption is prohibited is available on the city administration website.
