Good for the arms, the legs and the soul
Zirl is a haven for both hikers and mountain bikers.
Starting in the village centre, there are several routes up to the Neue Magdeburger Hütte mountain hut which, itself, is a starting point for a wide variety of hikes. Depending on your preferences and fitness level, the spectrum ranges from gentle walks suitable for families, to demanding hikes for experienced mountain climbers. Situated within the Alpenpark Karwendel nature reserve, the Martinswand rock face, complete with a via ferrata and several rock climbing routes, is a popular destination for advanced climbers.
Less power in your arms but more in your legs is what you need for a mountain bike tour from Zirl to the Brunntal valley, or “Bruntl” as the locals call it. The valley at the foot of the Solstein mountain is the perfect place for those seeking peace and relaxation – with or without a bike. The bike tour takes around two hours and is also ideal for less experienced cyclists.
If it’s action and adventure you’re after then don’t forget to pay a visit the “Funpark-Zirl”, or why not test your courage on a rafting trip or a canyoning tour in the “Imster Schlucht” gorge? And how about rounding off your action-packed day with a dip in the outdoor swimming pool or a pleasant horseback ride – then you can really say you’ve “done it all” in Zirl!
