Just before the beginning of Lent, the spot where the nativity scene stands during the time around Advent and Christmas, is modified and adorned with a carved scene depicting the passion of Christ. A similar carved scene with painted figures can also be seen in the church on the Calvary from the beginning of Lent until shortly after Easter.
