Take part in the courtly soirée staged at the time of Emperor Maximilian I. and enjoy a colourful spectacle reflecting the grandeur of Innsbruck's heyday. Innsbruck’s very landmark, the Golden Roof, is a telltale of the court’s manifold festivi-ties under the reign of Emperor Maximilian I. From its elaborate bay window, which contains also a portrait of the ‘last knight’, he enjoyed watching courtly feasts and tournaments.
To the sound of drumbeats and fanfares and in their period costumes, Maximilian, with both his wives Mary of Burgundy and Bianca Maria Sforza with entourage, will return to Innsbruck’s old town where in front of the Golden Roof a sumptuous banquet will await the royal party. Together with the spectators they will rejoice in the colourful performances of minstrels and musicians, acrobats and jesters. There will not just be courtly music and dance but also popular tunes characteristic for the era, and reliefs decorating the Golden Roof oriel will be pantomimed.

Jugglers, Morris dancers (Moreskentänzer) and proud, armoured knights will round off the picture of Innsbruck’s court life and entertainments. The events will come to a spectacular close with a torchlight dance and a fire show. Spectators will be welcome to join free of charge this festive, pleasurable excursion into the glorious past.
