Fun for the whole family
For parents, holidays are as recreational as their children enjoy it.
INNSBRUCK ...
its Old Town, the steep ascent up the city tower, many museums suitable for children, the beautiful cathedral
– listing all sights would simply be too much. Here, you will find a few examples:
More than 150 animal species (including especially rare ones) and more than 2000 animals in total make a visit to the
"Alpine Zoo" an impressive experience.
For children the alpine zoo is a tremendous experience ...
Here children and their parents are on a veritable wildlife expedition. Together they watch the speedy mice, the terrapins and the fish in the aquarium, follow the funny games of the European otters with their amazing swimming skills, or listen to the sounds of local birds. At the show farmhouse, people can literally get first-hand contact with the farm animals. And when the church bells in Innsbruck toll, the wolves start to howl.
Visitors can also compare the length of their arms with the wings of the bearded vulture or climb up to "Geierwally's" eyrie.
At the playground with its "bear cave" children can work off their energy while parents are able to relax.
From mid-July to the end of August, the Alpine Zoo offers a
“tour in the evening” through the zoo under the special guidance of biologist Dirk Ullrich, who will provide a lot of information about the Alpine animal world. This guided tour takes place every week on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The meeting point is at the beaver enclosure, and the tour is a complementary part of the admission fee.
The Alpine Zoo is open all year long from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (until 5 p.m. in the winter).

The
“Hofkirche” – in a popular saying “Schwarzmanderkirche” (Black men church)…
The Hofkirche (Court Church) in Innsbruck with its memorial for Emperor Maximilian I is the most prominent tomb memorial for an emperor in Europe.
In 1502 - that means over 500 years ago - Emperor Maximilian I gave his court drawer, Gilg Sesselschreiber from Munich, the contract to start with the preparations for the construction of the largest figural memorial of the Occident.
The extensive memorial consists of a cenotaph with the figure of the kneeling emperor and 24 reliefs depicting his deeds on the sarcophagus in the middle of the nave and 28 of the planned 40 larger than life statues of his ancestors between the pillars of the nave and the beginning of the chancel. Here you can regard the statue of the legendarily King Arthur.
Numerous artists were involved in the complicated work processes such as removing the visors, carving models, making models in clay and wax and casting the statues between 1502 and 1555 until everything was finished.
Open from Monday to Saturday- 9am to 5pm, Sunday and Holidays 0.30pm to 5pm
"Bell Museum" (near the Olympia bridge)
In 1599, Bartlme Grassmayr cast his very first bell in Tyrol. The expertise of Grassmayr Bell Foundry and the secret of bell construction ("ribbing”) have been carefully guarded every since - continually improved upon through scientific research, and successively handed down from father to son – a tradition preserved for more than 14 generations.
All over the world – in nearly 100 countries – bells from Grassmayr Bell Foundry in Tyrol can be heard tolling. The Bell Museum is a unique combination of bell foundry, bell museum and a sound room. Mysticism in the sound room - we invite you to partake in an acoustical adventure. Tons of bells become visible, audible, palpable. Try it out yourself.
Open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the high season also on Saturday

You can get to the top of the tower with a funicular, and the athletic visitor can manage the 455 steps from the entrance to the top on foot. The approach - 98 m long –and the steep landing slope, which only a few skiers would dare to run – illustrate the courage of the ski jump athletes.
