The village of Oberperfuss is home to the famous cartograph Peter Anich and his aid Blasius Hueber.
A small, but nonetheless very interesting museum shows their work. Peter Anich, born in 1723, showed already in his teens a keen interest in science and constructed sundials.
Encouraged by his mentor and teacher Ignaz von Weinhart, Peter Anich soon constructed his first globes for which he applied for and got the patent. About 30 of his globes are still existing today. Peter Anich and Blasius Hueber however did not only produce globes they were also one of the most famous cartographs of that time. They were the first, who made an accurate map of the Tyrol, which was a difficult task as no devices existed. So Peter Anich and Blasius Hueber constructed their own, of which 2 are still used today in especially steep alpine regions. 





In 1766 Peter Anich was asked to draw up a map for the South Tyrol. Unfortunately in the swamps near Bozen he fell ill with malaria and died at the age of 43.
