Drag from the mountain tops!

On November 27, a drag brunch was held at the Seegrube Restaurant on the Nordkette. The term “drag” is said to have originated in theater in the late 1800s when male performers appeared as women, but the concept and art of drag has evolved and grown over time. Drag has been around for quite some time and all over the world. Recently, television shows like “Rupaul’s Drag Race” and “Dragula” have led to more and more people discovering the art and local drag.

This is an opportunity not to be missed!

I have seen some drag performers occasionally at various events in Innsbruck, but for the most part it seems to me that Vienna is known more for frequent performances and drag brunches. When I saw that the Seegrube would be the venue for a drag brunch, I KNEW I couldn’t pass up this opportunity.

I am obsessed!

1.905 meters above sea level is already a great place for brunch, but when you add drag to the mix, it becomes unforgettable! Spectacular views, delicious brunch, stunning performances! The performers of Drag, Vanessa Community, Naomi King and Wally Quinn, were simply amazing. Live singing, lip syncing and spectacular choreography made for a great show! Naomi King and Wally Quinn also perform as a live singing group “The Amazons”. To be honest, I'm obsessed. If you can't make it to a show, listen to them on Spotify, you won't regret it!

Let the show begin!

After arriving, Vanessa Community gave a brief introduction to the brunch process. Then people filled their plates with delicious food and had time to eat and talk. All three artists took the time before the show and during breaks to sit at different tables and talk to everyone. They were so gracious and friendly, answering questions, telling stories and just being themselves! The artists performed in a block of numbers, and then there was an intermission to continue eating. There were three blocks of performances, with different constellations and, of course, changing costumes.

More, more, more ... please?

My first question to organizer and performer Vanessa Community was when we will be blessed with another drag brunch? Vanessa wants to make it a regular thing, in collaboration with the Seegrube ... but not too regular. The event was intentionally kept small, but the demand was so great that it sold out extremely quickly. I can’t recommend a visit to a drag show or drag brunch enough. To say I had fun would be an understatement, I didn’t want the show to end! Vanessa Community, Naomi King and Wally Quinn are excellent performers!
