Bike & Hike

This is the sporty combination of mountain biking and hiking. First you go fast and environmentally friendly with the bike into the mountains, further into the steeper terrain you go on foot. Hiking trails and paths lead into picturesque high valleys or to mountain peaks with great views. Many mountain huts and mountain huts are worthwhile stopovers on bike and hike tours during the ascent or descent.

Fließerwald - Neue Magdeburger Hütte - (542/543)

A challenging tour from Zirl to the Neue Magdeburger mountain hut and a good starting point for the climb up Solstein. The climb starts at the underpass at the northern end of town and follows the road towards Hochzirl. Shortly after the third sharp bend, the route turns right onto a curvy track that leads steadily uphill through the Fließerwald forest. After about four kilometres, the route takes another right onto mountain bike route no. 543, which leads to the Neue Magdeburger mountain hut where you can enjoy fantastic views of the Tux and Stubai Alps! By taking mountain bike route 543, it is possible to connect to a route that leads back to Zirl via the other side of the Brunn Valley.

Fließerwald - Oberbach (542)

Bike and hike from Zirl to the Solsteinhaus mountain hut. The climb starts at the underpass at the northern end of town and follows the road towards Hochzirl. Shortly after the third sharp bend, the route turns right onto a curvy track that leads steadily uphill through the Fließerwald forest. The trail comes to an end in Oberbach. From there, you can continue on foot up to the Solsteinhaus (a mountain hut with accommodation) and Solstein peak.

Inzinger Alm mountain hut - MTB route (5010)

This challenging route from Inzing covers 1,000 vertical metres and features wonderful views of the Inn Valley - perfect for athletes. From the swimming pool car park (Murkapelle) in Inzing, head west until immediately after the bridge and then turn right to continue in a southerly direction. Follow the paved road up to the hamlet of Hof and then turn left at the chapel to head south again. Take the "Hoarligweg" forest road and follow it for approximately 9 km until you reach the idyllically-located Inzinger Alm mountain hut. Bike & hike: from the Inzinger Alm mountain hut, it is possible to take on the challenge of Rosskogel mountain (2,647 m), increasing the number of vertical metres to just over 2000!

Kemater Alm - MTB route (555)

Through the Senders Valley with views of the picturesque Kalkkögel range. This tour begins in Grinzens and follows the road that leads along the stream through the Senders Valley. Just before reaching the mountain hut, the valley opens up and presents wonderful views of the Kalkkögel mountains and the Kemater Alm mountain hut. The hut is a lovely place to take a break and enjoy a bite to eat with beautiful views of the Kalkkögel. It is also possible to stay at the hut overnight. Bike & hike: the Kemater Alm mountain hut can only be reached by bike through the Senders Valley (Senderstal). From the hut, there are plenty of opportunities for walking and climbing towards the Kalkkögel and Salfeins.  

Lehen – Straßberghaus (549)

An easy route that zigzags up from Lehen to the Straßberghaus mountain hut. The shady route leads through mixed forests and has wonderful views of the Inn Valley. For bike & hike fans, there is a one-hour tour from the Straßberghaus to the Neue Alplhütte mountain hut (1,504 m).

Pfaffenhofer Alm mountain hut - MTB route (507)

This challenging mountain bike tour leads steadily uphill from Pfaffenhofen to the Pfaffenhofer Alm mountain hut. The route leads through the upper village of Pfaffenhofen and continues uphill in a southerly direction along a paved road towards the hamlet of Höll. After about 1.7 km, the route branches off to the left and follows a mountain trail to the Pfaffenhofer Alm mountain hut, where you can take a break and enjoy a bite to eat. Bike & hike: bikers with a high level of physical fitness can extend the tour with a hike up to the summit of Sonnkarköpfl or Schafmarebenkogel.
