E-mountain bike tours

Mountain bike tours for e-bikes

Up the mountains by bike: What used to be reserved for mountain bikers with legs of steel is now within reach for everyone. E-mountain bikes make it feasible to access numerous destinations that previously required a very high level of fitness. This means you can enjoy a ride to the most beautiful mountain huts and picture-perfect views. The ride is still not completely effortless. But it is only moderately strenuous compared to riding uphill using pure muscle power. The battery support opens up brand new biking territory: the mountains around Innsbruck where you will find delicious alpine delicacies and alpine views: lush green alpine meadows, dark green forests, chirping birds and the freshest air in the region.

If you're planning a ride up to the Pfaffenhofer Alm mountain hut, you should make sure you've got a full battery! There is not a single flat stretch where you can relax until you reach your destination, but your efforts are rewarded with stunning panoramic views overlooking the Inn Valley, the Wetterstein mountains, the Mieming Plateau and the Mieming Range. The ride starts in Pfaffenhofen in the Oberdorf district and heads further uphill to the hamlet of "Höll". From there, the route follows the Almweg trail to the Pfaffenhofer Alm mountain hut. If you will be relying heavily on the battery, we recommend taking a second battery with you. Highlights: Beautiful panoramic views. Good food and friendly service.

An intermediate eMTB tour to the Rauschbrunnen alpine guesthouse, one of the most rustic of the traditional mountain huts in and around Innsbruck. The tour starts at the Ottoburg restaurant in Innsbruck's historic old town, leads up Höttinger Gasse road and along Schneeburggasse road to the Sadrach district. From there, the tour continues up along paved roads to the Planötzenhof restaurant and then continues past the restaurant to join a forest road up to the Höttinger Bild, a small mountain chapel in the woods. The route then zigzags uphill for a few bends before flattening out towards the Rauschbrunnen alpine guesthouse, which is perched up on the Nordkette mountain range above the Hötting district at an altitude of 1,060 metres above sea level. You can even see as far as the Wipp Valley and admire the impressive mountains of Patscherkofel, Serles and the Kalkkögel range. The alpine guesthouse serves refreshing drinks, traditional snacks and typical Tyrolean alpine dishes. Follow the same route back except for the section on Höttinger Gasse road, as this is a one-way street.  Highlights: The many different views of Innsbruck as you enjoy the varied ride up Innsbruck's Nordkette mountain range, the southern gateway to the Karwendel mountains. Nice in autumn, as it leads partially through a beech forest. The lovely sun terrace at the Rauschbrunnen alpine guesthouse.

The Rinner Alm mountain hut is very popular with locals because it is easy to reach and serves delicious food. After all, you can't go wrong with a bit of dry-cured ham, cheese or dumplings after an e-bike ride. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the hut by bike on the forest road from Rinn. The ascent mostly runs through the forest and is nice and shady in the height of summer. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy a good meal and magnificent views of the Inn Valley with the Karwendel mountains rising up behind it.  Highlights: Beautiful views of Innsbruck and the Karwendel mountains. A climb that is not too steep. The good food!

A challenging 2-hut tour with magnificent views: From the Hungerburg district above Innsbruck, past the Arzler Alm mountain hut, onwards to the Höttinger Alm mountain hut and then up to the Seegrube mountain lift station where you get breathtaking panoramic views from high above the city. Just before the end, when you are below the Seegrube, you will need to take another deep breath before powering up the last two steep slopes, sometimes over coarse gravel – but once you get to the Seegrube, you will be rewarded with views reaching all the way to the Alpine divide. Whether you decide to stop at the Höttinger Alm mountain hut or the Seegrube lift station, the views are fantastic. WARNING: In the height of summer, it can get very hot on the south-facing slopes so be sure take plenty of water with you. On the route back down from the Seegrube, you can do a detour to the Bodenstein Alm mountain hut along the way. If you will be relying heavily on the battery, we recommend taking a second battery with you. Highlights: Breathtaking views down over Innsbruck and out over the Stubai Alps, the Tux Alps and the alpine divide. Our tip: You can extend the route to include the Bodenstein Alm mountain hut.
