Route to start
A challenging bike & hike tour that starts at the Planötzenhof restaurant. The route initially follows a forest road with a consistently steep incline and a few short level stretches. After approx. 1 km, the route reaches the Höttinger Bild chapel. Heading further upwards, the route takes a left onto the Bärfallweg trail and follows it to the Rauschbrunnen alpine guesthouse (1,092 m). After 2.75 km, the connecting road goes right (for approx. 2.5 km) towards the Höttinger Alm and Arzler Alm mountain huts. From there, keep left and follow the three bends to the end of the Achselwaldweg trail. Please note that there is no mountain hut at the end of the Achselwaldweg. Experienced hikers can take the turnoff at the final bend and continue up to the Achselkopf, the beautifully-located Achselkopfhütte mountain hut (1,560 m) and the panoramic Brandjochkreuz cross (2,268 m).
