Stage 2: Tyrol's treasure chest
The trail leads from the green, sparkling Achensee through the Inn Valley to Innsbruck. Along the way, the famous Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens is well worth a visit, with its shimmering crystal forest in a beautifully-cultivated landscape. And don't forget to take a look at the wonderful crystal creations inside the giant's head. If that's not your scene, then the journey continues; past the old silver-mining town of Schwaz and the idyllic town of Hall on the way to Innsbruck. For those who have the time, the Capital of the Alps is perfect for a quick stopover, where traditional food such as 'Tiroler Gröstl' and 'Kaspressknödel' is on many restaurant menus. Take a trip up the Nordkette on a cable car and enjoy the breathtaking view from 2,000 metres above sea level. And for culture lovers, the city has scores of museums to visit, guided walks on which to eavesdrop and sights to admire.
