Forecast

The satellite images do not give too much joy to us at the moment! They show nothing but clouds! Unfortunately, the weather maps show the same results and we can therefore only offer this forecast:

The weather will be overcast and unstable all day long.

Tendency

The trend is positive: On Tuesday, the sun will break through more often and showers will become infrequent.

On Wednesday, sunny and warm weather will return!

BICYCLE CARRIAGE

ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Would you like to travel to the start of your next mountain bike tour by bus or tram? We've put together some information about the public transport options for transporting bikes, which is not possible on every bus and tram. The following regulations apply until further notice.

As of: September 2023

THE INNSBRUCKER NORDKETTENBAHNEN LIFTS AND CABLE CARS

The Nordkette is probably one of the most popular biking areas around Innsbruck. Free bike transport on the Hungerburgbahn until 10 a.m. and from 4.30 p.m. onwards.  Outside these times there is a surcharge of € 6. The transport of bicycles in the Seegrubenbahn is subject to a charge for the whole day.

PATSCHERKOFEL MOUNTAIN SOUTH OF INNSBRUCK

Bus line J towards Patscherkofel links the Nordkette and Patscherkofel and runs as far as the village of Igls. Downhill bikes cannot be transported in this direction except for residents of Igls and Lans.

IVB TRANSPORT ASSOCIATION INNSBRUCK

Clean bikes can be transported on public transport operated by the IVB for free, provided they do not take up space required more urgently by other passengers. In particular, strollers and wheelchair users of course take priority. The IVB allows bike transport on weekdays from 8 am to 3 pm and from 6.30 pm to 6 am. During weekends and public holidays, bikes can be transported without any restrictions. The buses on lines A, K and J each have a bike rack on the back of the vehicle that can take four bicycles. This bike rack can be used at any time. More information is available in german at www.ivb.at

Please note:

  • The minimum age for unaccompanied bikers on line J is 14 years. Younger bikers must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Please remove full-face helmets on the bus.
  • Keep the aisles of the bus clear.
  • Excluded from transport: very dirty bikes

VVT TRANSPORT ASSOCIATION TYROL

Bicycles may be taken on post buses operated by the VVT, provided there is a bike space available. If the bus has a rear bicycle rack or bicycle trailer, bikes can be placed in that for transport. However, bike transport cannot be guaranteed; it is at the discretion of the driver. Further information is available in German at www.vvt.at

ÖBB AUSTRIAN FEDERAL RAILWAYS

The ÖBB regulations for bicycle transport vary according to class and route. In general: Bicycles can be transported on local trains (RB, RE, S-Bahn) without a prior booking but with a special bicycle ticket, provided enough space is available. On long-distance trains, bicycles can only be transported with a prior (!) booking. Dismantled and packed bicycles, as well as folded bicycles, can be taken along as hand luggage free of charge.
