The month of February 2019 is still in a good mood! After this clear starry night, morning temperatures will be quite low for the time of year, but as soon as the sun appears it will shine from a perfectly blue sky and make temperatures rise to spring-like values.
High pressure will reach its climax on Monday! Furthermore, the temperatures will be mild. We can thus look forward to a marvellous day!
The next harmless clouds will not arrive before Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Way of St James through Innsbruck and its regions
Walk, and discover yourself. The idea stirs pilgrims to set off on a walk with a small rucksack and large ambitions. Two sections of the Way of St James, with its thousand years of history, lead through Innsbruck and its surrounding villages. Around Patsch, a trip to the Heiligwasser pilgrimage church is highly recommended, likewise a quick detour to the St Blasius pilgrimage church in Völs. A peculiarity in Kematen is the parish church, whose tower has three onion domes, and not to forget the impressively-situated Ellbögen on the former salt road.
Pilgrimages on the Way of St James
The Way of St James - for many a life's dream. At the top of the list is, of course, the famous route over the Pyrenees, but not everybody can afford to spend two months walking. Some in northern and central Europe start their pilgrimage directly in front of their door, while others get into shape for the long walk to Santiago de Compostela. Our Tyrolean section of the Way of St James remains close to our hearts with wonderful panoramas, peaceful routes and pilgrimage churches along the way.
Innsbruck and Santiago are closely connected. Innsbruck's baroque cathedral, housing Lucas Cranach the Elder's painting of Our Lady, is dedicated to St James, and the hostel here offers tired pilgrims overnight accommodation during the summer months. The parish's Fellowship of St James looks after the needs and requests of the pilgrim community, and qualified pilgrim escorts will take you on special walks.
