Forecast

With high pressure weakening, a shallow, thundery low from France is tracking towards our region. The day will start just like the previous day, pleasant and calm. In the afternoon, though, it will become increasingly muggy with cumulus clouds thickening to give thunderstorms before the evening.

Tendency

Until Friday, sunny spells will alternate with thunderstorms in the afternoon and the evening.

Patscher Alm - summer

Description

One of the most beautiful alpine huts around Innsbruck and definitely worth visiting, Patscher Alm is located 1,694m above sea level at the Patscherkofel just south of the city, and offers fantastic views of the Stubai Alps, Stubai Glacier and the upper Inn Valley. This hut is perfectly situated, and a great place to recharge the batteries, for all walkers and mountain bikers.

Covered in wooden shingles, Patscher Alm is a welcome sight for travellers. Inside, it has everything visitors expect from a traditional alpine hut, such as wood-panelled walls, wooden furniture and a fireplace in the corner. Traditional Tyrolean dumplings and alpine snacks await visitors.

Accessibility, Walks and Mountain Bike Tours

It's a comfortable walk to Patscher Alm from the Patscherkofelbahn valley station. The route goes towards Hochmahd and along a track to Patsch, and this whole walk should be achievable on foot in 2.5 hours. Patscher Alm is situated along many walking and mountain biking routes, and there is a trail from here via Ochsenschlag and Igleralmboden to Heiligwasser, the mystical place of pilgrimage with fairytale views. Consecrated in 1665, this church is definitely worth visiting.

For mountain bikers: there is currently a lot building work on Patscherkofel, meaning that not every route is completely navigable. Up-to-date information is available from Igls Tourist Information under the number +43 512 377101, or directly from the office.
