Forecast

A strong high together with dry air is dominating our weather at the moment. The result of these weather conditions is a spring day that couldn’t be nicer! From dawn to dusk, we will see perfect sunshine with just a few cumulus clouds in the afternoon and very nice temperatures.

Tendency

The area of high pressure remains stationary and we will therefore see a good deal of mostly sunny, dry days with spring-like temperatures!

The Besinnungsweg (Path of Reflection) starts and ends at the over 500-year-old Parish Church of St Magnus in Ranggen. Free parking is available at the parish church and just below it in the restaurant car park at "die Weiberleit". The yellow signpost below the parish church points you in the right direction. The route initially turns right onto a bypass through the village, past the districts of Riedpuite and Viescheide, and follows paved roads for a short stretch until you reach the first station of the Path of Reflection, which is located just above Ranggen. From there onwards, the route leads along soft forest trails. The shady trail leads uphill through the forest to the chapel, passing seven different stations that invite you to enjoy moments of reflection along the way. From there, you can follow the forest road back to the parish church.

Walk in our ancestors’ footsteps! The "Hohe Birga" in Birgitz is the only open-air archaeological site in the immediate vicinity of Innsbruck. This excavation site of a pre-Christian Raeti settlement is located about 500 metres as the crow flies from the centre of Birgitz. The site is easy to reach, initially along a relatively flat path that leads past beautiful and well-maintained farmhouses and gardens and then slightly downhill along a paved road to the Hohe Birga excavations. The climb up the excavation hill and the route back up to the starting point in Birgitz is a little steeper. After the walk, it is well worth visiting the Rätermuseum (Raetic Museum) located in the village hall on the village square in Birgitz. There isn't anywhere to stop for refreshments along the way so it's very important to take enough to drink with you. A small rest area is located directly at the archaeological site.
