Andreas-Hofer-Weg trail

An easy hike from the Sonnenburgerhof or Mentlberg via Klosterberg to Eichhof in Natters. The route can also be extended to Natterer See lake. Return via Natters to the Sonnenburgerhof. Alternatively, you can take the Stubaitalbahn tram (STB tramline) from Natters to Innsbruck or if you started in Mentlberg you can take the bus back to the city.   

The Goldbichl archaeology trail

From the Kurpark spa gardens in Igls, walk south along the east side of Congresspark Igls and continue through the forest following signs for "Archäologiepfad Goldbichl" (the Goldbichl archaeology trail). Around 4,000 years ago, the Goldbichl was a powerful sanctuary and a place of widespread importance. Today, a forest hiking trail leads from the Kurpark spa gardens in Igls to the prehistoric ritual site once used for burning offerings. Illustrated information boards reveal more about the various aspects of daily life and religious rites. Experience the magic of the place.  You can learn more about this topic and admire the most significant Bronze and Iron Age artefacts found on the Goldbichl at the museum in the "Haus des Gastes" (Hilberstraße 15, 6080 Igls).

Arzler Alm to Rumer Alm to Enzian Hütte

From the top of the Hungerburgbahn funicular, take the first narrow street on your right and follow it until you come to the edge of the forest. There, the route turns right and continues for a few minutes before joining the Rosnerweg trail. When you come to a fork in the path, turn left off the Rosnerweg trail and follow the route uphill through the forest to the Arzler Alm mountain hut. From the Arzler Alm, follow signs towards the Rumer Alm and Enzianhütte mountain huts. Return hike: from the Enzianhütte, either head towards the village of Rum or follow the Rosnerweg back to the starting point.

Arz Valley circular hike

Experience the quaint Arz Valley, a virtually untouched tributary valley leading off the Wipp Valley. From the starting point at the Hinterlarcher car park in Ellbögen (1,400 m), walk along the forest road to the Arztaler Alm, which lies at 1,900 metres above sea level. From there head to the Arztaler Waterfall and the Arzaler Hochleger hut (2,126 m) before continuing past the Falkasaner Bach stream and back along the other side of the valley to the Arztaler Alm mountain hut (1,900 m).

From Hinterlarcher car park in Oberellbögen (fees apply), follow the forest road through the untouched nature of the Arz Valley to the Arztaler Alm mountain hut.

Viewing platform on the Simmering - Horn

From the Simmering Alm mountain hut, it takes about 45 minutes to reach the viewing platform. The path is almost flat as it leads over gentle alpine meadows and then continues on to the Simmering Horn. From the viewing platform, you can enjoy far-reaching views of the Mieming Range, the Stubai Alps and the Mieming Plateau.

The Inntalblick viewing platform

This viewing platform offers wonderful views over the Inn Valley from Inzing to Roppen. The route starts from Grünberg car park and follows a forest road to Zwischensimmering before continuing on to the Inntalblick viewing platform.

Axamer Lizum to the Schafalm mountain hut

An easy walk in Axamer Lizum. Start: Axamer Lizum car park – from the north-west corner of the car park, a gentle forest road leads to the Schafalm, a typically Tyrolean mountain hut with a small playground. Walking time: about 15 minutes. Particularly suitable for families, children, seniors and Nordic walkers.

Axamer Lizum Hoadlsteig - Adolf Pichler Hütte - Kemater Alm

A wonderful but very challenging mountain tour along the Kalkkögel mountain range between the hiking areas of Axamer Lizum and the Senders Valley. The hike starts from Hoadl at the mountain lift station of the Olympiabahn funicular in Axamer Lizum. The starting point can be reached on foot by following the farm road (the "Wirtschaftsweg") or in comfort on the Olympiabahn! The hike back to Hoadl follows the same route!   WARNING! This is a very difficult mountain tour! It is essential that hikers are completely sure-footed, have a good head for heights and have alpine experience!      

Axamer Tal valley to the Schafalm mountain hut

An easy hiking trail along the Axamer Valley to the rustic Schafalm mountain hut in Axamer Lizum, where you can stop for a nice break and a bite to eat. The hut also has a small playground. You can get back to Axams by hiking back the way you came or by taking the public VVT bus no. 4162 from Axamer Lizum car park (please note: the buses only run in summer during high season when the mountain lifts in Axamer Lizum are in operation).

Hike from Axams to the Adelshof guesthouse

This hike starts in Axams by the Axamer dam (end of the toboggan run in winter) and leads south towards Axamer Lizum. Halfway along the route, at the bridge over the Axamer Bach stream, you'll come to a turnoff (yellow sign) onto a narrow trail that leads to the Gasthof Adelshof guesthouse. Return hike: Option 1: follow the same route back to the starting point at the dam. Option 2: take the steeper but shorter route via Osterberg (Veitl) to Axams. Option 3: travel back down in comfort on the "Postbus" (bus route 4162, hourly according to the timetable, free with a guest card) from the bus stop located right at the Adelshof.

Axams Jennisweg trail

An easy walking route between the holiday villages of Axams and Birgitz with wonderful panoramic views. There are several benches along the way where you can relax and take a break. If you would like to stop for a bite to eat, the route passes the Tenniscafe Axams and the Liftstüberl in Birgitz, where there is also a small neighbouring playground. The walk is possible in either direction.

The Bergdoktorweg trail

This lovely short winter walk starts at the village hall car park in Wildermieming, which is located opposite the listed parish church "Pfarrkirche St. Nikolaus". The walk is suitable for people of all ages. Start by walking a few metres east and then turn right onto the paved Straßbergweg road. Follow the road until you come to a sign that points right towards the "Bergdoktorhaus", a building made famous by the TV series "Der Bergdoktor". Even though the series has since moved on, many visitors still come to visit the place where the series was once filmed. From the terrace in front of the house, you have beautiful views of Wildermieming and the Stubai Alps.  To complete the circular walk, first continue north along Straßbergweg road. Then take the second right onto the Sonnenplateau-Rundwanderweg trail and follow it until you come to Lettenkapelle chapel. From there, take Mühlgasse road into the village and back to the starting point.
