A hike from Rum along the River Inn

This hike starts in the village of Rum and leads along Bahnhofstraße road and under the railway lines to the Rumer Hof Hotel and Restaurant. From there, you walk right to the end of Serlesstraße road, passing plenty of shops and the architecturally-interesting Parish Church of Neu-Rum along the way. You then turn left onto Kugelfangweg, which leads directly to the River Inn. Follow the river upstream, first under a road bridge and then under a rail bridge. When you come to the Mühlauer Brücke bridge, cross over to the south bank of the Inn and continue upstream. At the covered wooden bridge, cross the river again back to the north bank. The route then leads away from the river, crossing "Hoher Weg" road and zigzagging up along a path through the forest to Weiherburg and Innsbruck's Alpine Zoo. The zoo is home to lots of interesting alpine wildlife, for example bears, eagles, lynx, otters and much more.
To get back to the starting point, you can take any of the following buses from the stops "Innrain" or "Mühlauer Brücke": 501, 502, 503 or 504.
