Innsbruck Trek – Day 1 – Intermediate

From Innsbruck to Rauschbrunnen
The route starts at Innsbruck’s famous Golden Roof and follows a path along the River Inn to the covered, wooden Weiherburg-Steg bridge. You can enjoy the sound of the water rushing along beside you as you leave the city behind. The trail then winds its way up past the Alpine Zoo to the Hungerburg district, which boasts fantastic panoramic views of Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains such as Serles, Nockspitze and Patscherkofel. From there, you follow a well-developed path for 40 minutes to the Umbrüggler Alm mountain hut where you can enjoy a modern take on Tyrolean dishes and admire views of the city from the lovely terrace. Afterwards, the hike continues via Höttinger Graben to Höttinger Bild, a small pilgrimage chapel on the edge of the forest. A path woven with tree roots covers a few more vertical metres and soon brings you to the Rauschbrunnen alpine guesthouse, which also rewards you with fantastic views of the Wipp Valley, the Stubai Alps and the city of Innsbruck. The route continues for 45 minutes along another root-laced path, which leads to Kranebitten and the end of this section of the hike.
