On the Path of Reflection through the mountaineering villages
This section starts just below the village of St. Sigmund and initially follows a wide forest road along the Zirmbach stream towards Gries. After half an hour, you turn off the forest road onto an idyllic forest trail that leads right to the charming mountaineering village of Gries. The village has 600 inhabitants and still preserves local rural traditions. It is an ideal starting point for hikes and ski tours in the Sellrain mountains, far away from mass tourism.
The route continues to St. Quirin along the Path of Reflection. The path undulates gently as it leads through the forest and past beautiful old farmhouses adorned with flowers. Benches are dotted in nice spots along the way and invite you to stop for a relaxing break. The path also features boards that contain many thoughts about belongings, loss, recovery and the Good Shepherd.
After two and a half hours, you reach St. Quirin, where a small pilgrimage church rises up against the sky on the steep southern slopes of the Sellrain Valley. Behind the church, the Karwendel mountains, the Nordkette mountain range and Patscherkofel form a fantastic backdrop and stunning alpine panorama.
The route continues through fields and meadows into the Tiefental valley and then on to Oberperfuss, which marks the end of today's hike.
