Ancient Shrovetide rituals kept very much alive in Innsbruck and its holiday villages. Ever been wondering about the meaning behind Matschgerer and Huttler, Muller and Roller? Well, these imaginative names are used to describe some of the grotesque characters which form an integral part of the traditional Tyrolean Fasching (Shrovetide carnival) celebrated to this day in Innsbruck and the surrounding 25 holiday villages.
