TIME TRAVEL WITH THE EMPEROR
The Emperor’s court jester leads visitors on a fascinating journey through time, linking historical events with newly interpreted scenes in a modern, amusing and sometimes surprising way. Impressive XXL-format effects transport the person, character and deeds of Emperor Maximilian I into the 21st century. The time tunnel draws you into the “Castle of Tournaments”, telling of “Love and Marriage” and the “Legend of the Martinswand Wall”. The journey continues to the “Court Festival” and the “Influence and Legacy of the Emperor”. The last stations are “Casting, Printing and Industry” and “Hunting” before the time tunnel brings you back to the present. The LIGHTSHOW MAX 500 might even be a vision of the future. Come and see for yourself!
Regarded as the “Last Knight” of the Middle Ages, he shaped the early Renaissance thanks to his policies in war and marriage. He was also a patron of the arts and sciences. He chose Innsbruck as his town of residence and left his mark throughout the territory of Tyrol, with the Golden Roof, the Hofburg imperial palace and the Hofkirche church among the most famous traces.

The light show
The LIGHTSHOW MAX 500 is an audiovisual 3D light projection / mapping show, one of the most elaborate and spectacular projects for 2019 as the “Year of Maximilian” in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the death of Emperor Maximilian I. The historic inner facades of the Hofburg imperial palace in Innsbruck have been virtually reconstructed using 3D software and transformed into a giant screen of over 1,300 square metres.
Aided by seven high-performance projectors as well as audio effects, this is a very special open-air cinema that will amaze visitors with its fantastic images – all visible without 3D glasses.
