During the next few days it will be warm, but with the air becoming quite sultry at times occasional thunderstorms may occur, especially in the late afternoon and evening.

Tour of the Alps: a cycling race through Innsbruck

17 - 21 April 2017

The Giro del Trentino is to become the Tour of the Alps. This five-day cycling race leads through the Euroregion of Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino. Innsbruck is at the heart of the excitement. Competitors arrive here on 17 April and the first stage ends in the Hungerburg district above the city. If you want to watch the action, you can take the Hungerburgbahn lift from the city centre up to the finish area

On 18 April, the second stage starts at the square Landhausplatz in the centre of Innsbruck. The route then takes participants over the Brenner Pass and through the Puster Valley to East Tyrol. The race promises lots of excitement and is regarded by many as a good indicator for the Giro d’Italia. The Tour of the Alps is the last big race in the run up to this classic event and the final rankings show which participants also have a chance to win the Giro d’Italia.

The Euroregion cycle race from Kufstein in Austria to Trento in Italy

The Tour of the Alps connects the three regions of Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino. Riders have to give it their all if they want to master the exciting and challenging terrain, which involves a lot of vertical metres and demanding alpine conditions. The alpine race is comprised of five stages, two of which are particularly difficult. The race starts in the Austrian town of Kufstein on 17 April and ends in Trento in Italy.
