Route This tour starts in Innsbruck and heads north along the Karwendel range through small villages. Bikers pass through Mühlau, Arzl and Rum before turning off from Thaur towards the Gnadenwald plateau. From Gnadenwald there are many possibilities to return back to the Inn valley. The destination is Wattens, home of the world-famous Swarovski Crystal Worlds, where a quick visit to view the glittering world of crystal is always an experience. There are, of course, plenty of places to secure your bike safely. From Wattens, the route heads towards the Karlskirche in Völders, where it then leaves the highway. The next plateau then comes into view, this time south of Innsbruck. From the valley, it's onwards towards Tulfes and up to the 'Olympic Mountain' of Patscherkofel.
Along the way, you'll pass through the beautiful villages of Rinn and Lans before reaching your destination of Igls. From here, it's a steep descent along the road and back to Innsbruck, a descent with an imposing backdrop as the Nordkette rises over the city. The Bergisel Olympic ski jump, designed by famed architect Zaha Hadid, awaits at the end of the descent.
Nature of the tour: The route around Innsbruck is clear and manageable, yet the roads are sometimes very quiet. There are also plenty of opportunities to shorten the tour and save yourself some climbing. This tour guarantees impressive views of the city and the surrounding mountains, while supermarkets and inns offer numerous places for refreshment.
