Glungezer

Kalte Kuchl, Halsmarter and Schartenkogel: these words alone are enough to excite skiers from Innsbruck. They are the names of slopes at Glungezer – and you can experience the magic of this natural ski resort too. The resort features 22 km of pistes, including the longest run in Tyrol: a 15-kilometre-long piste from Schartenkogel at 2,300 metres down to the village of Tulfes in the valley. The resort is linked by two chairlifts and five drag lifts.

Special fun on “klumpers”
Glungezer also offers hiking trails, toboggan runs and 40 km of cross-county ski trails. At the bottom of the Glungezerbahn lift, you can also try “klumping”. This exceptional tobogganing experience takes place on the “Klumper slope” on special toboggans that look like wooden stools on runners – great times and an extra helping of fun guaranteed.

Food and drink on the mountain
The Gluckserhütte, located right next to the slopes on the Tulferberg, welcomes guests to enjoy hearty specialties on the sun terrace or in their charming dining room. Alpengasthaus Halsmarter serves Tyrolean delicacies with great views of the pistes. Other nice places to visit include the Brenner snack station, the Neue Gufl mountain hut or the Windegg guesthouse. The Tulfein Alm offers delicious cuisine at over 2,000 metres – not to be confused with the Tulfeiner Hütte at 1,300 metres. Here you can also enjoy hearty dishes that vary according to season, sometimes including game and other delights.
