A strong low pressure area is situated over the Bay of Biscay at the moment. It will slowly extend to the Alps, but will not reach us before tomorrow. With warm air from the Sahara moving in at the front of the system, foehn winds will pick up. We will therefore see a dry mix of sunshine and clouds with relatively high temperatures for the season.
On Tuesday a cold front will bring cooler air to our region. It will mostly be cloudy with locally heavy precipitation. Wednesday will mark the end of the snowfall.
Starting point is at the Marktgraben bus stop (Innsbruck centre) with the 'A' bus to Sadrach. From here, head left uphill towards the Buzihütte alpine hut. It's then through the forest along winding paths to the Rauschbrunnen alpine hut at 1,100m above sea level. After some pleasant refreshments, there is a different option for the descent, namely via the forest path to Höttinger Bild and then downhill along Bildstocklweg to Planötzenhof. The bus stop for line A is located just 5 minutes away. Tip: a short stop at the Hottinger Bild place of pilgrimage is highly recommended. The chapel is idyllically situated next to a fountain.
