Roughly 200m above the bottom of the Inn Valley, in the middle of the Martinswand, you'll find Maximilian's Grotto (Maximiliansgrotte), a 26m-wide and 19m-high natural cave. Legend says that Kaiser Maximilian himself even sought refuge here after injuring himself while hunting chamois. The Grottensteig path in the Martinswand has been reconstructed and has been walkable again since April 2015. The path takes you from Brunntalweg across the quarry, and over the completely refurbished grotto trail. Bridges, fences and handrails ensure a secure walk for children along the way to a spectacular view over Zirl and the upper Inn Valley.
