Challenging mountain fun: the Sellrainer Hüttenrunde
7 days, 80 kilometres and 5,700 metres in altitude difference ensure the Sellrainer Hüttenrunde is a special kind of mountain-climbing experience. The tour begins in the 900m-high village of Sellrain and the highest point is the Schöntalspitz at 3,000 metres. The trail follows seven stages via numerous mountain cabins, with delicious Tyrolean cuisine, rustic accommodation and relaxing peace.
Mountain climbing in seven stages
From Sellrain at the mouth of the eponymous valley, the trail is split into seven stages containing peaks and cabins. The cabins along the way are named after German places, such as Potsdam, Westphalia, Pforzheim, Schweinfurt, Bielefeld and Dortmund. This is a route that requires the traveller to be in good shape and possess mountaineering experience, as the trail is difficult and demands a lot from the hiker's body. It is advisable to be informed of the weather and terrain before setting off. The cabin landlords, who know the area like the backs of their hands, will also provide helpful information.
Impressions of Sellraintal
Heavenly peace and unspoiled nature surround Sellraintal, and a wonderful mountain panorama awaits in every direction. To the south, the Stubaier Alps; to the north, Karwendel and the Nordkette. In the east you can see Ötztal, and Wipptal and Stubaital can be found in the west. This alpine mountain-climbing paradise with its rugged charm is only 30 minutes from Innsbruck by car, and here waits the Sellrainer Hüttenrunde for seasoned mountaineers. The trail is an absolute highlight in the middle of wonderful scenery, with clear mountain streams bubbling along, and alpine roses and violets edging the tracks. The peaks of the Kalkögel rise steeply into the sky.
The Hüttenrunde is a nature paradise, home to chamois, ibexes and marmots. Don't be surprised if one or two of these mountain inhabitants cross your path! To experience the Alps up close, the Sellrainer Hüttenrunde is the place to be.
