Rum & culture
A cultural jewel throughout the year
Romantic Christmas markets, popular open-air cinema evenings and international sports tournaments all take place at the FoRum in Rum. This diverse events centre is a meeting and gathering point and a vibrant centrepiece for the village. The varied events held throughout the year inspire guests from far and wide: the Great Easter Festival is held here from time to time, as well as regular summer cinema evenings, the Beachvolleyball A-Cup, the Beach Soccer Cup, the traditional Christmas Market and the weekly farmers’ markets at the bandstand. The farmers’ markets are held every Saturday between 7.30 am and 11.30 am from April until mid-December and offer highest quality produce from local farms. In the mood for schnapps? Visit the schnapps shop in Rum for original and 100% natural schnapps from Tyrol.
Carnivals and nativity scene culture
Rum has a particularly rich and diverse cultural life thanks to its close proximity to the Capital of the Alps. Visitors treasure the historical carnival traditions, such as the unique “Mullerlaufen” (link), as well as the beautiful nativity scenes displayed during the period just after Christmas. Rum is one of the villages around Innsbruck that is recognised for its valuable collection of nativity scenes and presents these masterpieces to guests year after year.
