Hiking offers something for everyone
This is especially true in Zirl where the hiking fun starts right from the centre of the village.
For example, on tours to the Neue Magdeburger Hütte – a mountain hut offering delicious food and drink that inspires palate and soul. This is the perfect place to enjoy a hearty break and replenish your energy levels – and also a particularly great destination for children. It’s no wonder – where else can kids get up close to so many animals? Alongside cows, sheep and horses, the soothing altitude of the mountain hut is also enjoyed by lamas, ponies, pigs and cute bunnies. It’s possible to stay at the Neue Magdeburger Hütte overnight but the hut is first and foremost a starting point for diverse hiking trails of all difficulty levels. The hiking trails offer something for everyone, from challenging tours for experienced mountaineers to enjoyable walks for families.
Get above it all on a hike up to the Solsteinhaus mountain hut, located 1,805 metres above sea level on Erlsattel mountain in the Karwendel Alpine Park, where you’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views, modern places to stay and charming restaurants offering well-deserved treats. The Karwendel Alpine Park is also a fantastic rock climbing destination. Three of the region’s rock climbing and hiking highlights are the legendary Martinswand, the Solstein and the Erlspitze via ferrata. The Solstein also offers two outdoor sport climbing areas, training via ferrata, a rock climbing wall on the building and a speedy flying fox.
Jump on your bike and you’re off!
You can explore the surrounding mountains even more quickly on two wheels. For example, on the diverse mountain bike tour from Zirl to the tranquil Brunntal Valley – or the “Bruntl” as the people of Zirl affectionately call it. The round trip takes approx. two hours and is a panoramic experience that will never be forgotten. The Brunn Valley lies at the foot of the mighty Solstein mountain and is an unparalleled natural paradise that invites you to relax and unwind with excellent views. Whether by bike or on foot.
The unique “Inntalradweg” (Inn Cycle Path) allows you to experience all the beauty of the Inn Valley up close.
Action meets relaxation
Accuracy and skill required: put concentration and a steady hand to the test at the shooting range and on the mini golf course. The wonderful outdoor pool is the perfect place for relaxing in the alpine sun and enjoying a little peace and quiet. The tennis courts in Zirl are great for tennis fans.
And adventurers can plunge into the rushing waters of the Imst Gorge on a raft or navigate deep ravines and rugged rock formations with ropes and wetsuits on a canyoning adventure – a head for heights is a prerequisite, natural slides and jumps into wild waters are included.
