Historic climatic health resort of Igls
From “sulphur baths” to Modern F.X. Mayr Medicine
The richness of nature, the wonderful expanses, the magnificent panoramic views – Igls is a gem located on a sunny plateau south of the Capital of the Alps. A place where relaxation, balance and gentle activity become an experience. It’s unsurprising that Igls was already a place of retreat many hundreds of years ago: the alpine holiday destination was renowned as far back as the Middle Ages for the healing properties of its “sulphur baths”. And its reputation as a spa resort continued to grow in the mid-19th century until it was finally awarded the title of a “climatic health resort” in 1904. This distinction combined with the mild climate, numerous hours of sunshine and precious atmosphere are what made Igls famous. It was Innsbruck businessman Michael Obexer who laid the foundation of modern tourism here.
Parkhotel Igls – Health is Central
Health is just as important in Igls today as it ever was. The Parkhotel Igls stands for highest quality regeneration and offers Modern F.X. Mayr retreats with medical support. Value is placed on medicine and the surrounding nature. Focus is on detoxifying the digestive system, which is the centre of the immune system and thus the centre of vital life.
Kneipp facilities in Igls
When out walking or hiking, you will pass the Kneipp facilities in the centre of Igls. Water treatments, such as Kneipp baths, and movement are among the five pillars of the legendary Kneipp philosophy, alongside herbal teas, a balanced diet and positive thinking.
It’s still easy to find balance in the historic health resort of Igls today – and feel the harmony between man and nature.
