Forecast

Our region is at the heart of a large area of low pressure! What sounds dramatic here will turn out to be harmless: the conditions in the centre of a low are always more stable and calmer than in marginal areas. The day will therefore bring more bright spells.

Tendency

During the next few days, our weather will remain changeable. Temporary sunny spells will alternate with periods of thick cloud and light snowfall.

A more active approach to enjoying nature

Are you looking for winter fun with plenty of entertainment? If so, you're sure to find the ideal solution in our wide variety of sports activities. Release your inner child and have the time of your life racing down snow-covered toboggan runs, gliding across glistening ice rinks or exploring immaculately groomed cross-country ski trails. If you want to take a short break from the action, simply pop into one of the local mountain huts or guesthouses for a change of scenery and enjoy a mug of hot chocolate with your fellow winter sports enthusiasts.

Tobogganing fun with no climb to the top

We all love a bit of sport, but there's no need to overdo it, so why not take a cable car up to the top of the slopes and let the speedy ride back down into the valley take your breath away instead? You don't have a toboggan? No worries! Our toboggan hire shops will happily kit you out.

Ice skating

Ice skating has always been a popular activity for fun-lovers and romantics alike. Our tip: If it's cold enough, you can go ice-skating where people swim in summer – the idyllic Lansersee lake is simply stunning and a top tip whatever the time of year.

Cross-country skiing

The Mieming region and the Sellrain valley offer the ideal terrain for both beginners and accomplished cross-country skiers who want to enjoy this Nordic pastime on classic or skating trails.

Nature: more than just forests and fields

Have you ever stared a wildcat directly in the eye? If not, head to Europe's highest zoo and tick this unique experience off your bucket list. The Alpine Zoo in Innsbruck is not only home to lynx but also contains a multitude of other fascinating creatures. What's more, you can visit it for free with the Innsbruck Card. In Praxmar, you can experience red deer up close as they enjoy one of their daily feeds. If you want to get even closer to animals, why not take a llama out on a hike? When was the last time you looked down on the world from above? When winter covers the land in its beautiful white blanket and the treetops are adorned with snow, it's the perfect time to soar high above the Alps in a hot-air balloon. Enjoy unbeatable views without a strenuous climb.
