The glamorous Golden Roof shines in Innsbruck’s old town. Behind it, the Nordkette mountain range rises up to around 2,300 metres above sea level – yet is easily accessible by cable car from the city centre. The Middle Ages meet the Modern era, urban bustle meets alpine nature: sightseeing in Innsbruck is full of contrasts, especially when it comes to the combination of city and mountains. We’ll show you the sights in the capital of Tyrol and the surrounding region.
From the city centre to 2,300 metres above sea level in 30 minutes. At the top: magnificent views, restaurants, hiking trails, a summit cross and spectacular photo opportunities.
The Golden Roof is Innsbruck’s most famous landmark and a real eye-catcher - especially in summer, when the sun makes the gilded copper shingles really shine.
Ski jumping has a long tradition on Bergisel hill. And the jump itself is also a highlight. The structure was designed by star architect Zaha Hadid and has hosted two Olympic Games.
Ferdinand II stored his collections and treasures here in the 16th century. A historic gem on the outskirts of the city with wonderful gardens and a large park.
With its magnificent state rooms, halls and salons, the Imperial Palace is one of the most important cultural buildings in Austria. Here history comes to life.
