The village oven in Mutters

Dorfbackofen
Bei Dorfstraße 3, 6162  Mutters

Opening Hours

To visit year-round.

The village oven is located on Nockhofweg road behind the Pizzeria Santa Lucia and has not been in use for several decades. In the past, the village oven was used by the entire community in order to save wood. Only a few farmers in the village would have been able to afford their own oven at the time. The freestanding oven has a domed baking area. It originally belonged to the neighbouring Temlhof farm and dates back to the second half of the 18th century. The oven is installed in a rubble stone wall that shares its eaves with a goat pen featuring a post-and-plank construction.
