Ski touring recommendations

This page will give you some ideas for ski tours in the region of Innsbruck. A great way to get a wonderful insight into the wonders of winter, especially under good conditions. These are, of course, only suggestions, as the final responsibility lies with the tourer to inform him or herself about current conditions before setting out.

Ski touring is a sport in which the risks should never be underestimated. We cannot accept any responsibility for snow conditions, avalanche risks and other outside influences. Every ski tourer is responsible for their own adequate avalanche protection and should check all current conditions with Tyrol's Avalanche Warning Service.

Ski Tour to Seegrube

This route starts at the Hungerburgbahn car park and heads north underneath the cable car before joining the forest road. Take a quick right turn after following the road for a short way, then along the piste and up to 1,340m above sea level. Cross the forest road again, then take a steep climb for another 200m. At the end of the scarp, continue eastwards to the avalanche wall. The route carries on east to the Seegrube hut.

Sömen

This ski tour begins at the ice bridge car park in Sellrain. The Sömen is located in the Stubai Alps in the ski resort of Potsdamer Hütte. Here you'll find extensive downhill options with excellent slopes.

Südlichste Sonnenwand

A beautiful ski tour destination near the Pforzheimer Hütte alpine hut, open from mid-February to the end of April. A storage room for skis is available.

Sulzkogel

This is an extremely popular ski tour in the Finstertal valley, heading from the DreiSeenBahn cable-car car park, via the Finstertal Reservoir and the Gamezkogel Gorge to the ski depot. From there, it's onwards and upwards to the summit.

The goal of this project is to simply and effectively impart knowledge and safety tips to tourers about the dangers of avalanches, while practicing and trainging along the tour to the Lampsenspitze. Ski touring, skiing and snowboarding and snowshoeing in unsecured areas away from the piste are booming. Vordere Karlesspitze

A challenging tour for experienced tourers. This technically-difficult climb up the Vordere Karlesspitze should only be attempted under safe conditions. With a fast-paced descent which can also be observed from the village of Kühtai. Always check with the avalanche warning service.

Wechnerscharte Gorge

A popular ski touring destination near Kühtai. The route goes from the Längental reservoir, through the Mittertal valley and its glacier to the gorge. .
