This walk begins north of Zirl, and takes the underpass to the bypass. Turn right and pass the Kalvarienberg to the start of the Ehnbachklamm gorge. Follow the route of the Ehnbach stream through the romantic gorge to Hochzirl or into the Brunntal valley (Route 3).
Along the way, the Karwendel's strange rock formations and species-rich flora and fauna are an unforgettable experience for walkers. Even on hot summer days, the cool babbling stream ensures relaxation for spirit and soul, and the area is host to a unique collection of wild orchids.
This narrow path is secured with walls, steps and cables. We recommend that you allow yourself plenty of time for this walk, as not only the landscape is worth seeing, but also the many climbers who use this area to practice and hone their skills.
At the end of the gorge, the route heads right and winds uphill through shaded forest to the path to the Brunntal valley. From here, it's along beautiful alpine meadows to the Brunntal alpine hut (Route 4).
The descent back to Zirl follows the track and then via Brunntal Steig.
