Forecast

A large area of low pressure is situated over Central Europe! Low pressure does not necessarily mean bad weather as each low contains areas of rain as well as brighter areas. For today we should be pessimistic, however! Unfortunately, our region is at the heart of the main area of precipitation and we will therefore get thick cloud and frequent precipitation.

Tendency

On Wednesday, high pressure will increase and the risks of showers decrease. Simultaneously, temperatures will rise.

Rangger Köpfl is a striking mountain located about ten kilometres west of Innsbruck. It is the most significant landmark in this hiking destination and boasts breathtaking panoramic views. Take the Peter-Anich Gondola I from Oberperfuss and float up the mountain in comfort to Stiglreith, located 1,360 metres above sea level. At Stiglreith, the Panoramarestaurant invites you to stop in to enjoy all sorts of delicious delicacies. From there, you can save yourself a 35-minute walk by taking the new 8-seater gondola, Peter-Anich II, up to Sulzstich.

If you would rather start your hike from Stiglreith, you can follow a forest road up to Sulzstich (1,560 m), past a picturesque reservoir lake to the last bend below the Rosskogelhütte mountain hut. From there you can already see the Krimpenbachalm mountain hut (not open to the public) below the mighty Rosskogel mountain. Take the alpine path to the left of the forest road towards the Krimpenbachsattel at 1,899 metres above sea level, a beautiful spot with wonderful far-reaching views. Then follow the forest road slowly uphill to the summit of Rangger Köpfl (1,939 m), where you can enjoy impressive panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

The "Alpenrosensteig" alpine rose trail branches off from here, follow the signs to the north-east. The path leads slowly downhill to the rustic Rosskogelhütte mountain hut, which is a lovely place to enjoy a fantastic break with delicious delicacies and magnificent panoramic alpine views. A particularly high number of alpine roses grow along this section of the route and are in bloom in June and July.

From the Rosskogelhütte, you can follow the road back down or take the path that leads down the ski slope, past the reservoir lake to the starting point at Stiglreith.

Stiglreith car park (fees apply, coins only).
The road to Stiglreith is closed from 1 November until 31 March.
