Leaving from the car park gates, this route goes relatively even and comfortable along a wide forest road to Straßberghaus. Shortly after, follow the signs for 'zum Alplbachsteig' and go along the newly-constructed 'stream climb' to the Neue Alplhütte mountain hut. Information about the 'Rocky Sea' The name of this area comes from a powerful rockfall that took place on the 23rd March 2012 near the so-called 'Tote Wand' (Dead Wall, the southern part of the Hohe Wand at 2,721m above sea level), when roughly 114,000 cubic metres of rock thundered two-and-a-half kilometres into the Alpbach Valley. The 'stream climb' was lovingly refurbished by the hands of Hansjörg Randl in summer 2015.
